Do you know the feeling of finally finding the perfect purse? Maybe the outer pocket it just the right size for your cell phone, the functionality of the closure is easy, the size and style is what you wanted? I love purses. As a flight attendant, a purse is obviously not the only bag I need in order to get through the days. Luggage is just as essential!
After nearly two years on the job, I finally can say there is a bag that completely changed the way I pack for my trips.
The bag I am talking about it the Travelpro Maxlite 5
I first came across this tote because my fellow flight attendant friend had one, and showed it to me with excitement, pointing out all of the storage room and pockets. I especially liked the pinkish purple lining inside.
After ordering the tote ( I actually found a brand new one on e-bay for $40!), and putting it into use, I quickly realized this tote is a game changer of a bag for me! I do mean that quite seriously, as I now pack far differently than I had prior to owning it.
For 5 day trips (which are what I try to bid for) I no longer bring my large rollaboard. Instead, I bring my small rollaboard and my Travelpro Maxlite 5 tote. The reallocation of my belongings into two bags is what has made my life so much easier. First, I no longer have to “stuff” all my readily needed flight items into the rollaboard’s outer pocket. This outer pocket never offered enough room, and it caused the bag to tilt forward. Now my small rollaboard serves only for my overnight items, and my tote includes everything I need for the day: work electronics, apron, flashlight, passport, reading materials, passenger count forms, mouthwash, hair accessories, etc. There is room to spare, and I usually put my purse in it too.
Also, because the tote has allowed me to downsize to a smaller rollaboard, I have a much easier time getting on and off shuttle bus stairs in high heels. I know that may not sound like much, but you have to understand, that was always stressful for me because the luggage was so heavy. Once I even fell down the shuttle steps in the rain, unable to manage the bags! Now I sling the tote on one shoulder, and I have both hands free for my lunchbox and small lighter rollaboard.
The tote has that essential horizontal strap in back, that allows it to easily slip on my luggage trolly handle. Not only that, I can still fit my Ebags crew cooler (lunchbox) on top of the tote with room to spare.
One improvement that I made to the bag is sewing a key holding clasp strap inside. I did this so my car keys would have a designated safe spot and never get lost.
If you are a flight attendant or a frequent traveler, I highly suggest you check out this bag. It has truly been one of the most value-adding purchases for my flight attendant career.
